Manicure
June 1, 2017
While getting a manicure is stereotypically slanted toward being a female activity, Norton feels the stereotype is unjust and has a desire to break that stereotype. And Wilfrid is playfully poking fun at Norton, not because he really cares one way or the other, but rather because he discovered that it kind of bugged Norton after the first comment, then he decides to roll with it for the rest of the strip. Wilfrid really is indifferent about it.
The two main intents on this comic strip were to play out the obvious punchline of “man-icure”, but also to convey the humour in a brotherly dynamic of one sibling gently pushing the other’s buttons for entertainment value. To attempt to convey this second objective I kept Wilfrid’s mouth smiling in each response so as to try to keep it light-hearted.
