I think that Norton’s ideas regarding the effort it requires to earn a living in the world of music are oversimplified. He has some steps in the process figured out, but he is missing a lot more of them than he realizes. And his power of persuasion is severely lacking. I like how Wilfrid’s initial response to Norton’s idea shows that this is the first time he is hearing about it. Norton clearly does not have it all figured out. And don’t mistake Wilfrid’s lack of interest in the idea being a knock on the genre of music, because it is not. Rather, he just doesn’t want to get dragged into one of Norton’s half-witted ideas.
