Abdominal Shirt

Just in time for the summer Norton is proudly showing off the results of his springtime workout regimen, which turns out to have been non-existent. Deep down I’m pretty sure that Norton realizes how nonsensical his shirt is in the pursuit of impressing the ladies. As usual, Wilfrid has some sage wisdom to impart upon his brother regarding the effectiveness of the shirt to impress anyone. Norton probably should have just hit the gym and worked out a bit over the winter. He’ll have to live and learn.

When I originally thought up this idea, colouring the comic strip was not on my radar. When it came to splashing the colour on it I realized that the ab-shirt was going to be a challenge. I wasn’t sure if I should keep it simply black and white to look like he just drew it in with a sharpie, or to have it all matching a skin tone similar to Norton’s like a full shirt printed image. In the end I chose a happy medium of just colouring the abs portion in a skin tone, which makes it look like Norton used an iron-on transfer of a picture of abs onto one of his standard blue shirts. It ads an extra layer of absurdity to it that would be difficult to convey in just black and white.
